In the Vietnam War, carrier-based F-4s went up against MiG-17s. The crews of the F-4 Phantoms were the original "Top Guns," the elite of the U. S. air forces. The arresting hook manufactured by SIFCO's Forge Group was critical in bringing our boys back home.

Arresting Hook & Hook Point were used to "start" or "stop" an aircraft when taking off or landing on an aircraft carrier

The Gulf War included attacks by Tomahawk cruise missiles, F-117A Stealth fighter-bombers and F-4G Wild Weasels, used to attack ground radar defenses. This allowed the use of F-14, F-15, F-16 and F-18 fighter bombers to drop TV- and laser-guided bombs. The A-10 Thunderbolt provided support for ground troops. The AH-64 Apache and AH-1 Cobra helicopters saw action, along with E-3A AWACS and a fleet of B-52Gs.
