Martin subsequently built the MB-2, whose only real claim to fame was the sinking of an ex-German battleship in Billy Mitchell's bombing exercises of 1921.

While in Cleveland, Martin designed the first single-wing, aluminum skinned aircraft, which was not built until after his move to the East Coast.
