September 1,1910, the Cleveland Plain Dealer documented Glenn Curtiss’ record-breaking flight of 60 miles over water from Euclid Beach to Cedar Point. The article doesn’t state how long it took, just that it was at a “rapid speed.” However, it must have been grueling since the return was not planned until the next day.
Orville Wright, when asked to forecast the future of aviation, said, “I cannot answer except to assure you that it will be spectacular.”
