In 1965 forgings were made for CH47 Chinook helicopter shown below, including a rotor hub and mounting plate to eliminate "droop" of rotary wings when at rest; and housing for varying the pitch of the rotary wings.
The transmission gear forgings for the Blackhawk helicopter are manufactured by the SIFCO Forge Group.
The V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft program is one in which SIFCO Forge Group in actively involved. The concept allows the aircraft to take off and land vertically like a helicopter, then, once airborne, tilt its motors and fly like a conventional airplane. SIFCO provides engine components as well as drive train components, thus keeping the V-22 in the air.
The Bell Model 430 (right) is a perfect fit for SIFCO's manufacturing capabilities.
